Vanmark military figurines are highly collectible. We’re a surplus store, so we don’t usually have things like this for sale, but it’s an interesting story.
A retired (medically) 1SG came into the store the other day; he was a 1SG in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Iraq. On his way to war, he purchased & brought along mementos to give to his platoon sergeants, troopers who did well, etc. The mementos were these statues and plaques.
An RPG into the side of his LMTV caused it to roll over, and as he was attempting to exit the vehicle, it rolled over him! Crushed his neck. While at rehabilitation at Fort Hood, where they were teaching him to control his wheelchair with a straw, he ran into a surgeon who actually replaced pieces of his spinal cord with a combination of real bone and artificial bone! He went from fully disabled and wheelchair bound to up and around and pretty well functional!
Now he has statues and plaques that never got used. All brand new in the box.He knows he can’t get all of this money back ($49 each plus shipping new), but we’re going to try and give someone a memento that has its own special “war story” attached!
